Agency A supplies 11 workers and agency B supplies 14 workers to a construction site. If the construction site hires only agency A workers it will complete the work in 3 days, but if it hires all the workers it can reduce the completion time by 2 days. Let the efficiency of an agency A worker and an agency B worker be x and y respectively
⇒ 2 days of work by agency A workers can be replaced by 1 day work of agency B
⇒ 2 × Efficiency of 11 agency A workers = Efficiency of 14 workers
⇒ 2 × 11x = 14y
⇒ 11x = 7y
⇒ x/y = 7/11
Salary ∝ Efficiency
⇒ x/y = Salary of agency A worker/11000
∴ Salary of agency A worker = 7/11 × 11000 = 7000
