Let the percentage of total votes secured by BJP be x%

⇒ Percentage of total votes Secured by Congress = (x – 12) %

⇒ x + x – 12 = 100

⇒ x = 56%

⇒ ie. If BJP will get 56% of votes according to prediction of analysts, then Congress must get = (56 – 12) = 44% of total votes
