Each question below is followed by two statements I and II. You have to determine whether the data given in the statement is sufficient for answering the question. You should use the data and your knowledge of Mathematics to choose the best possible answer. A, B, C, D, and E are working together can finish the work in 8 days. Find in how many days A will finish the work. I. C, D, and E can finish the work in 10 days. II. A is more efficient than B.
Correct Answer If both the statements together are not sufficient to answer the question.
Let the total unit of work is 80 units.
A, B, C, D and E together can finish number of units work in a day
= 80/8 = 10
Statement I
C, D and E together can finish number of units work in a day
= 80/10 = 8
We can say that
One day work of (A + B + C + D + E) = 10
&
One day work of (C + D + E) = 8
We have
⇒ A + B = 2
Statement II
A > B
Now we can say that since A + B = 2 and A > B
If A = 1.5 then B = 0.5
If A = 1.75 then B = 0.25
So we need more data to find the exact value of A and B
∴ Both the statements together are not sufficient to answer the question.
