A girl can cycle at 16 km/h and walk at 7 km/h. To cover a distance of 109 km, she takes 8.5 hours. How much distance did she cover on foot? Correct Answer 21 km

Suppose, she walked for x hours

According to the question,

x × 7 + (8.5 – x) × 16 = 109

⇒ 7x + 136 – 16x = 109

⇒ 9x = 27

⇒ x = 3 hours

∴ Distance covered by foot = (7 × 3) = 21 km
