A travels a certain distance at a different speed. He travels 35% of distance at a speed of 70 kmph, 25% of distance at a speed of 100 kmph, 20% of distance at a speed of 80 kmph, and remaining at 50 kmph. At the same average speed, in how much time A will cover 500 km?
A travels a certain distance at a different speed. He travels 35% of distance at a speed of 70 kmph, 25% of distance at a speed of 100 kmph, 20% of distance at a speed of 80 kmph, and remaining at 50 kmph. At the same average speed, in how much time A will cover 500 km? Correct Answer 7 hours
Given:
Let the distance travelled by A be 100 km.
Formula:
Average speed = Total distance/total time
Calculation:
Average speed = 100/(35/70 + 25/100 + 20/80 + 20/50)
= 500/7 kmph
∴ Required time = 500 × 7/500
= 7 hours
