Given data :

Price of cloth = Rs. 80 per meter

The actual length of a meter tape = 90 cm = 0.9 m

No. dresses = 3

Cloth for 1 dress = 3 m

Stitching charges of tailor = Rs. 200

Calculation :

The shopkeeper sells 1-meter cloth using a 0.9-meter scale

⇒ In 1 unit cloth costing Rs. 80 Raju gets 0.9 meter cloth for Rs. 80.

Cloth required for 3 dresses = 3 × 3

⇒ 9 m

∵ 1 unit cloth contains 0.9-meter cloth

∴ x unit cloth contains 9-meter cloth.

⇒ x = (9 × 1)/0.9

⇒ x = 10 unit

⇒ Total cost of cloth = 10 × 80

⇒ Rs. 800

Total cost of stitching = 3 × 200

⇒ Rs. 600

Total cost of 3 dresses = Cost of cloth + Cost of stitching

⇒ 800 + 600

⇒ Rs. 1400

∴ Rajus will need Rs. 1400 overall for 3 dresses.
