A shopkeeper buys goods from a dealer making a cheat of 15% at the time of buying and when he sells the goods makes cheating of 35%. He promises the customer to sell his goods at 10% loss. Find his overall profit percentage. Correct Answer 59.23%
Let buys 1000 gm goods at Rs. 1 for 1 gm
Then cost of 1000 gm = Rs. 1000
But at the time of buying he makes cheating of 15%
⇒ C.P. of 1150 gm = Rs. 1000
He sells only 650 gm, saying at a loss of 10%
⇒ S.P. of 650 gm = Rs. 900
Now make quantities equal to find his overall profit percentage.
⇒ (C.P. of 1150 gm) × 13 = Rs. 1000 × 13 = Rs. 13000
⇒ (S.P. of 650 gm) × 23 = Rs. 900 × 23 = Rs. 20700
Overall profit percentage = 7700 × 100/13000 = 59.23%
