On a certain island, there are coins available in only two denominations – Rs. 2 and Rs. 5. Suresh has 100 coins with him, such that the total amount available in the form of Rs. 2 coins and Rs. 5 coins respectively is in the ratio 3:5. How many Rs. 2 coins does Suresh have? Correct Answer 60

Let Suresh have x coins of Rs. 2 and y coins of Rs. 5.

∴ x + y = 100 ... (i)

The amount through Rs. 2 coins and Rs. 5 coins is in the ratio 3 : 5.

∴ 2x : 5y = 3 : 5

∴ 2x = 3y ... (ii)

Solving (i) and (ii), x = 60 and y = 40

Thus, Suresh has 60 Rs. 2 coins.

Hence, ‘60’ is the correct answer.
