If he walks at the speed of 15 m/min.,then he reaches 40 min earlier.

Time = Distance / Speed

Calculation∶

Let the distance between his home and his office is ‘x’ and the actual time to reach be ‘t’.

Time = Distance / Speed

According to question.

(x / 13) = (t + 16)   ---- (1)

(x / 15) = (t – 40)   ---- (2)

After adding equation (1) and (2), we get

(15x – 13x) / 195 = 56

⇒ 2x = 195 × 56

⇒ 2x = 10920

⇒ x = 10920 / 2 = 5460 m.
