Karnataka Express leaves Bangalore for Delhi at 06:00 p.m. and travels at a speed of 80 kmph. Rajdhani express leaves Delhi for Bangalore at the same time and travels at a speed of 120 kmph. The total distance between Delhi to Bangalore is 3,000 km. How much time will it take before both the trains meet each other? Correct Answer 15 hrs

Given:

Speed of Karnataka Express = 80 km/h

Speed of Rajdhani express = 120 km/h

Distance between Delhi to Bangalore = 3,000 km

Concept used:

When two objects move in the opposite direction, then

Relative speed = S+ S2

where S1 and S= Speed of trains

Formula used:

Speed = Distance/Time

Calculation:

According to the questions,

The relative speed of both trains in opposite directions = 80 + 120

⇒ 200 km/h

Time required to meet the train = Distance/Speed

⇒ 3000/200

⇒ 15 hours

∴ The required time is 15 hours.

The question below is followed by two statements I and II. You have to determine whether the data given is sufficient for answering the question. You should use the data and your knowledge of mathematics to choose the best possible answer. Train A departs at 9 : 20 am and train B departs at 10 : 50 am and they travel towards each other. After how much amount of time will the trains meet? I) Train A travels with a speed of 10 kmph and the difference between the speed of two trains is 6 kmph and both the trains are 160 km apart. II) Train B travels at a speed greater than Train A which travels with 10 kmph by 6kmph separated by a distance of 160 km.
