A car driver while chasing a bike drives his car at a speed of 27.78 m/s. Both the vehicles are moving at constant velocity and the car had started the chase when it was a distance of 60 km from the bike and it took complete 1 hour to catch the bike. What was the speed of bike? Correct Answer 40 kmph
Speed of car = 27.78 mps = 27.78 × 18/5 = 100 kmph
Let speed of bike be x kmph.
Now relative speed of car while chasing = (100 - x) kmph
Distance covered = 60 km
Time taken = 1 hour
∴ Relative speed = (Distance covered)/(Time taken) = 60 kmph = (100-x)
∴ x = 40 kmph
The speed of bike was 40 kmph.
