Given: Ram, Shyam and Sameer bought a car with cost price of Rs 2 lakhs

Let the amount paid by Ram, Shyam and Sameer be 3a, 4a and 5a respectively

⇒ 3a + 4a + 5a = 200000

⇒ 12a = 200000

⇒ a = Rs. 16666.66

Amount paid by Ram = 3a = 3 × 16666.66 = Rs. 50000

Amount paid by Shyam = 4a = 4 × 16666.66 = Rs. 66666.66

Amount paid by Sameer = 5a = 5 × 16666.66 = Rs. 83333.33

Let the M.P. of the car be b

So, b – b(20/100) = 200000

⇒b(1 –1/5) = 200000

⇒ b = 200000/(4/5)

⇒ b = 250000

So, M.P = Rs.250000

Price of new car = 2 × 250000 = Rs.500000

⇒ Amount to be paid for the new car = 3/4(500000) = Rs.375000

Since, Ram and Sameer paid for new car in the ratio of 3:5

Let Ram pays 3d and Shyam pays 5d

⇒ 3d + 5d = 375000

⇒ 8d = 375000

⇒ d = 46875

Amount paid by Ram for the new car = 3d = 46875 × 3 = Rs.140625

Also, Ram pays half of the amount of Shyam’s payment

⇒ 66666.66/2 = Rs.33333.33

So, total amount paid by Ram = 50000 + 140625 + 33333.33 = Rs.223958.33
