Let numbers of people who travel by Metro, Bus and Trains daily are denoted by M, B and T. Also, let’s assume total number of daily commuters be C.

So, M = 1.4 B      ---- (1)

M – T = 54000      ---- (2)

B = 1.1T      ---- (3)

⇒ M = 1.4(1.1T) = 1.54T      ---- (4)      {from eq. (1) and (3)}

⇒ 1.54T – T = 54000      {from eq. (2) and (4)}

⇒  T = 100000      ---- (5)

Since, 0.9C = M + B + T

⇒ 0.9C = 1.54T + 1.1T + T      {from eq. (3) and (4)}

⇒ 0.9C = 3.64T
