A total of 3720 votes were casted to A, B and C. B has received total votes of 1080. If 390 people who had casted their votes to A withdrew and cast their votes to B, then the number of votes casted to A and C becomes equal. Find the number of votes casted to C.

A total of 3720 votes were casted to A, B and C. B has received total votes of 1080. If 390 people who had casted their votes to A withdrew and cast their votes to B, then the number of votes casted to A and C becomes equal. Find the number of votes casted to C. Correct Answer 1125

Given: A total of 3720 votes were casted to A, B and C. Later on, 390 people who had casted their votes to A withdrew and casted their votes to B. As a result the number of votes casted to A and C becomes equal. Also, B received total votes of 1080.

Formula: Percentage increase/ decrease = × 100%

Calculation:

Let the votes A, B and C got initially be a, b and c respectively.

According to question

a + b + c = 3720

b = 1080 (given)

a + 1080 + c = 3720

⇒ a + c = 2640     ----(1)

After withdrew 390 votes from A, votes of A and C are equal.

a – 390 = c

⇒ a – c = 390      ----(2)

Subtract equation (2) from (1)

2c = 2640 – 390

⇒ c = 2250/2

⇒ c = 1125

∴ votes casted to C are 1125.
