The speed of the stream is 1 km/hr.
Formula used:
Upstream speed = Speed of boat in still water - Speed of river
Downstream speed = Speed of boat in still water + Speed of river
Calculation:
Speed of boat with respect to stream = 18/3 = 6 km/hr
⇒ Speed of boat – Speed of stream = 6
⇒ Speed of boat = 6 + 1 = 7 km/hr
Speed of boat when 3 men bow the boat = 7 km/hr
Speed of boat when 6 men bow the boat = 7 × 6/3 = 14 km/h
∴ If 6 men will bow a boat then the speed of the boat will be 14 km/hr.
