Calculations:

Going from North Goa to South Goa –

No. of passengers = 0

Total Time Taken = 2 hour

Stream = Upstream

Distance = 100 km

⇒ SB – S = Distance/Time

⇒ SB – S = 100/2

⇒ SB = 50 + 10

⇒ SB = 60 km/h

Going from South Goa to North Goa –

No. of Passengers = 20

Total Time Taken = T

Stream = Downstream

Distance = 100 km

Speed of Stream(S) = 10 km/h

Every passenger decreases 1 km/h speed of the ferry boat which means 20 passengers

decreases 20 km/h of the Speed.

Speed in Downstream = SB + S = 60 + 10 = 70 km/h

We have to subtract the speed decrease due to passengers which is 20 km/h

Actual Speed in Downstream = 70 – 20 = 50 km/h

Time = Distance/Speed

T = 100/50

T = 2 hour
