A boat started from a point A, and the speed of boat is 50 km/hour in still water and speed of the stream is 10 km/hour. After reaching to point B boat stopped for 30 minutes and after that come back to point A. The time taken by the boat in this journey is 15 hours and 30 minutes. What was the distance travel by the boat in one side?

What was the distance travel by the boat in one side? Correct Answer 360 km
Given
Speed of boat in still water = 50 km/hour
Speed of stream = 10 km/hour
Time taken by boat in total journey= 15 hours 30 minutes
Time of stoppage = 30 Minutes
Formula used
Time taken in travelling = Total time of journey – Stoppage time
Calculation
Time taken in travelling = 15 hours 30 minutes - 30 Minutes = 15 hours
Let the one side distance = x km
According to question
⇒ x/(50 + 10) + x/(50 – 10) = 15
⇒ x/60 + x/40 = 15
⇒ 2x + 3x = 15 × 120
⇒ x = 360 km
∴ Distance travelled by the boat in its one side journey is 360 km.
