In the following question, two statements are numbered as A and B. On solving these statements, we get quantities A and B respectively. Solve both quantities and choose the correct option. Quantity A: Superman and Batman in their boat are moving towards each other If Superman travel against the stream and Batman along the stream they are at a distance of 2300 km from each other. If the Speed of Stream is 20 km/h and Speed of Superman’s Boat is 100 km/h and Speed of Batman’s Boat is 130 km/h. Find the Time Taken to meet each other Quantity B: Tony Stark is flying in his suit 1 hour before Captain America with the speed of 200 km/h. If Captain America is chasing him in the boat which runs at a speed of 270 km/h against a stream which has speed of 20 km/h. Find the time in which he catches the Tony Stark.

If Captain America is chasing him in the boat which runs at a speed of 270 km/h against a stream which has speed of 20 km/h. Find the time in which he catches the Tony Stark. Correct Answer Quantity A > Quantity B
Formula Used:
Speed = Distance/Time
For Upstream
SB – S = Distance/Time
For Downstream
SB + S = Distance/Time
⇒ SB = Speed of the Boat
⇒ S = Speed of the stream
If time is same, then D1/S1 = D2/S2
Time = Distance/Relative Speed(S1 – S2)
Quantity A:
Let the Time when they meet is T
Let the distance travelled by Superman is x km
Distance travelled by Batman is 2300 – x km
Speed of Superman Boat in Upstream (Ss) = SB – S = 100 – 20 = 80 km/h
Speed of Batman Boat in Downstream (SBa) = SB + S = 130 + 20 = 150 km/h
If time is same, then Ds/Ss = DB/SBa
x/80 = (2300 – x)/150
150x = 80 × (2300 – x)
150x = 184000 – 80x
230x = 184000
x = 800 km
For Upstream
SB – S = Distance/Time
80 = 800/Time
Time = 10 hours
The Time Taken to meet each other is 10 hours
Quantity B:
Tony Stark complete how much distance in 1 hour with the speed of 200 km/h
Distance = Speed × Time
Distance = 200 × 1 = 200 km
Distance between Tony Stark and Captain America when Captain America start travelling in his boat is 200 km.
Captain America’s Boat Speed = 270 km/h
Speed of the stream = 20 km/h
Captain America’s Boat Speed in river = 270 – 20 = 250 km/h
Time = Distance/Relative Speed(S1 – S2)
Time = 200/(250 – 200)
Time = 200/50 = 4 hour
The Time Taken is 4 hour
Hence the Quantity A > Quantity B (10 > 4)
