The following question, there are three statements I, II and III. Read the question carefully and mark your answer according to which statements(s) is/are sufficient to the answer the question. What is the Speed of the stream? Statement I: The distance between two points A and B is a km and the boat cover 90km along the stream in 5 hours. Statement II: The distance travelled along the stream is four times the total distance and that against the stream is three times the total distance Statement III: The total time taken against the stream is 10% more than that along the stream

The following question, there are three statements I, II and III. Read the question carefully and mark your answer according to which statements(s) is/are sufficient to the answer the question. What is the Speed of the stream? Statement I: The distance between two points A and B is a km and the boat cover 90km along the stream in 5 hours. Statement II: The distance travelled along the stream is four times the total distance and that against the stream is three times the total distance Statement III: The total time taken against the stream is 10% more than that along the stream Correct Answer All I, II and III

Let x be the speed of the boat and y be the speed of the steam

From statement I,

⇒ = 5

⇒ (x + y) = 18      ----(1)

From statement II and III,

⇒ = (4d × 1.1)/(x + y)

⇒ 3x + 3 y = 4.4x - 4.4 y

⇒ 7.4y = 1.4x

⇒ 1.4x - 7.4 y = 0      ----(2)

Solving Equation 1 and 2, we get y = 2.86 kmph

∴ We need all the three statements to answer the question

You have to decide whether the data provided in the statement are sufficient to answer the question. If the bus is travelling from Surat to Ahmadabad and a car is travelling from Ahmadabad to Surat, then what is the distance between Surat and Ahmadabad? I. The speed of a car is 40% less than the speed of bus. Bus started at 9 am and car started at 10 am and they meet at 3 pm of the same day. II. After travelling for 1 hour, because of traffic average speed of bus is decreased by 20% and covers distance between Surat to Ahmadabad in 11 hours. Original speed of car is 20% less than original speed of bus and before crossing bus it covered 200 km if starts 1 hour later than bus. After crossing car, bus covers remaining distance in 5 hours. III. Speed of bus is 10 km/hr more than the speed of car and before crossing car ratio of distances covered bus and car in same time was 5 : 4. Time taken by car to cover the distance between Ahmadabad and Surat is 2 hours 15 minutes more than time taken by bus to cover the same distance.
Each question below is followed by two statements I and II. You have to determine whether the data given in the statements are sufficient for answering the question. You should use the data and your knowledge of Mathematics to choose the best possible answer. What is the difference between the time taken by Kantesh and Sudesh to complete the journey? I. Sudesh and Kantesh travelled through a boat and distance covered by them is equal, where the speed of stream is 5 km/hr, The ratio of downstream speed and upstream speed of Sudesh is 4 ∶ 3. II. Kantesh's boat is 20% slower than Sudesh's boat. The midpoint between their location and destination is 66 km. Both travelled back to their original location to complete the journey.
