In an election between two candidates, the winning candidate got 70% of the valid votes and won by a majority of 9000 votes. If out of total votes polled 90% votes are valid, then what is the total number of votes polled? Correct Answer 25000
Valid votes of winning candidate = 70%
Valid votes of losing candidate = 30%
Difference of valid votes of winning and losing candidates = 70% - 30% = 40%
⇒ 40% = 9000
⇒ 10% = 2250
⇒ 100% = 22500 = total valid votes
∴ Total no. of votes polled = 22500 × 100/90 = 25000
