Salary of A and B is Rs. 15000 and Rs. 24000 respectively. The savings of A and B is 10% and 15% respectively and other is expenditure. If there is increment in salaries of A and B by 5% and savings percentage is same. Then total expenditures of A and B before increment is what percent of total expenditures of A and B after increment?
Salary of A and B is Rs. 15000 and Rs. 24000 respectively. The savings of A and B is 10% and 15% respectively and other is expenditure. If there is increment in salaries of A and B by 5% and savings percentage is same. Then total expenditures of A and B before increment is what percent of total expenditures of A and B after increment? Correct Answer 95.23%
Given,
Salary of A = Rs. 15000
Salary of B = Rs. 24000
Given,
The savings of A and B is 10% and 15% respectively and other is expenditure.
Expenditure of A before increment in salary = 100 - 10 = 90%
Expenditure of A = 15000 × 90/100 = 13500
Expenditure of B before increment in salary = 100 - 15 = 85%
Expenditure of B = 24000 × 85/100 = 20400
Total expenditures of A and B before salary increment
= 13500 + 20400
= 33900
Given,
There is increment in salaries of A and B by 5%.
New salary of A = 1500 × 5/100 + 15000 = 15750
New salary of B = 24000 × 5/100 + 24000 = 25200
As savings percentage is same then,
Expenditure of A = 15750 × 90/100 = 14175
Expenditure of B = 25200 × 85/100 = 21420
Total expenditures of A and B after increment = 35595
Required percentage
= (33900/35595) × 100
= 95.23
∴ The total expenditures of A and B before increment is 95.23% of total expenditures of A and B after increment.
