Given 

MP = 1600 rupees 

Discount = 10% 

SP = 1600 - 1600 × 10% = 1600 - 160 = 1440

Profit = 20% 

CP + CP 20% = 1440 

⇒ CP + 20CP/100 = 1440 

⇒ 120CP/100 = 1440 

∴ CP = 1200 rupees
