Cooking white rice without a rice cooker doesn’t have to be difficult or time consuming. With just a few easy steps, you can have fluffy, flavorful rice ready to serve in no time.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of white rice
  • 2 cups of water
  • Salt and butter (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a pot, combine the rice, water, salt and butter (if desired) and stir.
  2. Bring to a boil and then reduce the heat until the water is just barely simmering.
  3. Cover the pot and let the rice simmer for 15 minutes.
  4. Turn off the heat and let the rice stand (covered) for 5 minutes.
  5. Remove the lid and fluff the rice with a fork. Serve it warm.
