We just purchased a home sitting in a half acre property. The lawn used to be really dry and had a lot of hedges. We cleared the hedges and watered the lawn everyday. We have a lot of crab grass and I was advised to reseed during fall. Is there anything else I can do to grow regular lawn grass?

Keep trying to control the crabgrass by either using herbicides and digging it out by hand. Repair the soil in the damaged areas and re-seed both spring and fall if necessary.
