When my dog is sprayed I bathe her in tomato juice, which seems to work well. I believe it has to do with the acidity of the juice. What do you know about this method?

This is quite a popular 'urban myth' that tomato juice is good for getting rid of skunk smell. This method is not recommended as some dogs have skin that is sensitive to tomato juice and it can cause a nasty inflammatory reaction. I've seen myself a dog who had to have his scrotum ablated (removed) because the owner applied tomato juice for just this reason and the skin erupted into non-healing ulcers and sores.
