Usually not, no. Especially not if you do it to earn money. Sure, there are many writers who write a book every month; they get a monthly salary, perhaps. Most writers write because they feel compelled to share this story with the world, regardless of who reads it or how much they earn. Finally, publishers usually pay authors a flat fee for the first few thousand copies sold, and only if it's hugely successful do authors receive an amount per extra copy sold.
