It's hard to say. Because this method was so secretive, there's a solid chance that the previous owner never did this. That being said, you can only do it once per cartridge, even if you delete the save file, so there's no guarantee. If you have a 3DS with homebrew software, you can use a program called Checkpoint to completely wipe the save off of a cartridge, but it is not sure it'll work.
