For certain insects, as their soft tissue begins to decompose, it is a lot more difficult to move regions of their body. If you try to move the wing on an old specimen of a butterfly, you're going to break the wing off of the butterfly's body. It's very important to move any sections of the body into the exact orientation in which you want to display that creature before it dries within one or two days. The way that it dries when it dies is usually the way that it will be frozen for the rest of its existence in that space.
