No, unless your lease agreement dictates that you do so. The apartment complex has a cleaning crew that comes in after a tenant moves out to do a deep cleaning of the carpets as required by law for health inspections, no matter the condition of the carpet on move-out. Vacuum the carpets thoroughly, and if you want to make sure you get your deposit back (especially if you have pets; accidents happen!), rent a carpet cleaner like Rug Doctor and shampoo the carpets.
