Yes, saline has natural antibacterial properties and is a useful way to flush away contamination from the surface of a wound. It is also relatively sympathetic to exposed tissue and less likely to kill tissue than some other disinfectants, therefore it is a good go-to disinfectant if you're not sure what to do.
