Occasionally, the bacteria in the middle ear can become resistant to antibiotics, including amoxicillin. This is more common if you have used antibiotics recently before the ear infection. If you are not feeling better in about three days, you should have your doctor check to see if the infection is improving. A different antibiotic is sometimes needed.
