Fungus likes moist, warm, and dark places like ear canals. There are natural bacteria that keep the fungus at bay from growing in the ear canal. Fungal infections are almost always caused by something that kills the natural bacteria that is keeping the fungus at bay. So the treatment is to try to get that bacteria back in. So you don't want to use antibacterial ear drops, you want to use antifungal ear drops to kill the fungus and let the bacteria that's supposed to be there come back.
