Pinned 2 squares together to make a pillow. While sewing, the fabric slides so the squares are no longer even. How to keep this from happening?

The pins on the fabric were probably parallel to the stitch line. Place the pins at right angles to the stitching line. You will need to use more pins than in the other direction. Sew up to the pin as close as possible before removing. This technique will minimize the movement of the fabric being sewn, and will maintain the fabric alignment.
