Explain the purpose of the rules! If a child does not know why they are being “forced” to do something, they will question it. Please don’t say “It’s because I said so.” Nothing is more frustrating to a child. Explain that it is to keep them safe, to help the family get the chores done, to make sure they get enough sleep, or whatever the purpose of the rule. No one likes to be forced to do something.
