Spiramycin is a macrolide antibacterial that inhibits protein synthesis by irreversibly binding to the 50S subunit of the ribosomal subunit thus blocking the transpeptidation or translocation reactions of susceptible organisms resulting in stunted cell growth.

Intravenous-
Toxoplasmosis, Cryptosporidiosis, Protozoal infections, Susceptible infections:
- Adult: 1.5 million units by slow infusion every 8 hr, may double the dose in severe infections.
Oral-Cryptosporidiosis, Protozoal infections, Susceptible infections, Toxoplasmosis:
- Adult: 6-9 million units/day in 2-3 divided doses, increased to 15 million units/day, given in divided doses for severe infections.
- Child and neonates: Chemoprophylaxis of congenital toxoplasmosis: 50 mg/kg bid.
May be taken with or without food.

বমি বমি ভাব, বমি , পেটে ব্যথা, ডায়রিয়া; মূত্রনালী, প্রিউরিটাস, ম্যাকুলার র্যাশ ক্ষণস্থায়ী প্যারাসেথিয়া হতে পারে।
সতর্কতা
হেপাটিক বৈকল্য; গর্ভাবস্থা এবং স্তন্যদান। লিভার ফাংশন নিরীক্ষণ। অ্যারিথমিয়াসের ইতিহাস বা কিউটি অন্তর দীর্ঘায়নের প্রবণতা।
ঔষধের মিথষ্ক্রিয়া
কার্বিডোপা শোষণ এবং লেভোডোপা ঘনত্ব হ্রাস করে। অ্যাসেটিজোল, সিসাপ্রাইড এবং টেরেফেনাডাইন ব্যবহার করার সময় ভেন্ট্রিকুলার অ্যারিথমিয়াসের ঝুঁকি বাড়ায়। ফ্লুফেনাজিনের সাথে ব্যবহার করার সময় তীব্র ডাইস্টোনিয়ার ঝুঁকি হয়।
গর্ভাবস্থায় ও স্তন্যদানকালে ব্যবহার
গর্ভাবস্থা বিভাগ সিঃ প্রাণীতে অধ্যয়নগুলি ভ্রূণের উপর বিরূপ প্রভাব প্রকাশ করেছে (টেরেটোজেনিক বা ভ্রূণদেহী বা অন্যান্য) এবং মহিলাদের কোনও নিয়ন্ত্রিত গবেষণা বা মহিলা এবং প্রাণীতে অধ্যয়ন পাওয়া যায় নি। ওষুধগুলি তখনই দেওয়া উচিত যদি সম্ভাব্য সুবিধা ভ্রূণের সম্ভাব্য ঝুঁকিটিকে ন্যায়সঙ্গত করে তোলে।
