The textbook is considered to be a primary source of learning for both students and teachers. Students learn a lot of concepts and get a lot of practice by solving the questions given in the textbook. Textbook acts as a primary guide for the students to know about what all topics they are going to be taught and how the process will progress from one lesson to other.
Important features of EVS textbook at the primary level:
- The language in the textbooks is related to the language type of daily life of students so that they connect to the concepts very quickly.
- The syllabus and the lessons are designed in such a way that they have related to the student's daily life.
- Appropriate stories and narratives are often given in various lessons to give students the real experience of learning.
- A lot of activities that enhance thinking capacity in children or included rote memorization is avoided.
- A lot of open-ended questions are included at the end of each lesson so that students improve their divergent thinking and creativity and increase their scope of learning.
Hence avoiding rote memorization is the most appropriate objective in the above-given options.
On the other hand, providing a lot of information through the content and focusing on stereotypes in society is not the objective of a good textbook of EVS at the primary level.
