Option 4 : (a) and (b)
Math anxiety is defined as fear, helplessness, and uncomfortable feeling a student gets whenever a situation to deal with any mathematical question arises especially when he/she won't know the correct method to solve it.
- Journal writing is the process of recording personal insights, reflections, and questions on assigned or personal topics. This helps a student reduce/mathematics anxiety in a student as they record their feelings, fear, and anxiety toward mathematics and try to find a solution to overcome them. Here teachers can assess the students with maths anxiety.
- Field trips also help students to overcome maths anxiety as the students get some fresh and real experiences from the field trip, gradually the fear decreases, and the confidence to approach the mathematical problems develops. Their teacher can assess the students as students give their best as anxiety reduces.
Hence journal writing by students and field trips are most appropriate for students facing Maths Anxiety.
On the other hand, term-end examinations are like summative assessments after which there is no chance for improvement for children with maths anxiety, if children with maths anxiety are assessed directly in the term-end examination, they may not deliver their best performance due to anxiety.
