Option 1 : Mathematics anxiety can be addressed by making assessment an integral part of the daily mathematics instruction with the focus on the progress of the student.
Mathematics anxiety can be defined as the fear and uninterest of students to solve mathematics problems or studying mathematics. Mathematics anxiety would have developed in students due to many reasons like not developing the basic concepts of mathematics, the teacher not encouraging the doubts asked by students, etc. Steps to address mathematics anxiety:
- Regularly conducting diagnostic tests to identify the learning difficulties of students.
- After identifying the learning difficulties immediately acting upon and designing the remedial teaching for the students.
- To avoid the fear of assessments in mathematics assessment can be made an integral part of daily mathematics instruction with a focus on the progress of the student.
- Assessment should be avoided for only giving grades and marks purpose.
- Assessment should not only be restricted to conduct after exams, it should be also done during the teaching-learning process.
Hence option 1 is the correct one.
- On the other hand giving a greater number of tests, a lot of questions before the examination, and exempting the students having mathematical anxiety from examinations is not going to help them to overcome it.
