Option 3 : 16 kmph
GIVEN:
A car travels a distance of 516 kms.
FORMULA USED:
Speed = Distance/Time
CALCULATION:
We are finding the average thus we don’t need to use the real value of distance as it will be canceled in the end.
Average speed = Total distance/Total time
Let total distance be D
For 50% journey time = D/(2 × 12)
For 25% journey time = D/(4 × 20)
For 25% journey time = D/(4 × 30)
⇒ Total time = D/24 + D/80 + D/120 = D/16
∴ Average speed of the car = D/(D/16) = 16 km/hr
