Option 4 : Rs. 10000

Given:

Total principal = Rs. 20,000

Simple interest = 9% and 13%

Time = 2 yeras

Total interest = Rs. 4400

Formula Used:

S.I = Principal × rate × time/100

Calculation:

Let the principle invested in scheme 1 be Rs. X and that in scheme 2 would be Rs. (20,000 – X)

According to the condition given in the problem,

(x × 9 × 2)/100 + ((20000 – x) × 13 × 2)/100 = 4400

⇒ 18x + 520000 – 26x = 440000

⇒ –8x = –80000

⇒ x = 10000

Kashish invested in scheme 2 = Rs. (20000 – 10000) = Rs. 10000

∴ Kashish invested in scheme 2 is Rs. 10000.
