Solving for Quantity A:

Let the number be ‘x’,

So, x + √x = 2x

⇒ √x = x

⇒ √x = √x × √x

⇒ 1 = √x

⇒ x = 1

Solving for Quantity B:

Let the number be ‘x’

So, x2 + x = 5x – 3

⇒ x2 – 4x + 3 = 0

⇒ (x – 3)(x – 1) = 0

According to question x is greater than 2 so x = 3

∴ Quantity A < Quantity B
