Option 2 : Quantity A < Quantity B

Quantity A∶

Total 8 people are standing in the line;

Conditions when Vikas and Kishan will have 4 people between them∶

1. Vikas at 1st position and Kishan at 6th position & vice versa:

⇒ Number of such arrangements = 2 × 6!

2. Vikas at 2nd position and Kishan at 7th position & vice versa∶

⇒ Number of such arrangements = 2 × 6!

3. Vikas at 3rd position and Kishan at 8th position & vice versa∶

⇒ Number of such arrangements = 2 × 6!

∴ Total number of arrangements when Vikas and Kishan will have 4 people between them = 3 × 2 × 6!

∵ Number of arrangements in which 8 people will stand in a line = 8!

∴ Required probability = (3 × 2 × 6!)/8! = 3/28

Quantity B∶

Total bulbs = 14, faulty bulbs are 9, so non-faulty will be 5.

∴ Required probability = 5C2/14C2 = 10/91

∴ Quantity A < Quantity B
