First, make sure you have selected the correct "print paper size" for your printer (American printers default to "letter", whereas most Commonwealth countries use "A4" paper). Second, you can change the margin under the format tab in the labels settings.

I have the same thing. There is a small box-like square and it will open tabs, find tabs you want to close and close.
