Look for ways to help the elderly in your community. The best way you can assist your community is to look out for your neighbors. For instance, if you see that an elderly neighbor is struggling to take out their trash or bring in their groceries, you might offer to help them. If you feel so inclined, almost every single assisted living facility or skilled nursing facility will welcome volunteers with open arms. If you have a talent like singing or playing the piano, you can go in and perform for the residents, and that can really make a big difference for someone who's staying full-time in a facility. Additionally, organizations like Meals on Wheels, The Convalescent Aid Society, and your local senior center serve elderly populations at no cost to them. A lot of times, these organizations desperately need money, so any donation can go a long way.
