From my experience, some types of stone like concrete pavers can be stained using special masonry paints. However, natural stone like what I work with does not absorb stain well. Staining is more effective on porous materials like brick. So you can stain decorative concrete stone, but staining natural stone is not recommended as it likely won't achieve the desired effect. The paint will not soak in properly.
