I have a medical condition called angiokeratosis, which appears as little blood blisters on my scrotum. These are unsightly, and I have to convince my partner they are not some form of STD. Is there any way of removing them?

Angiokeratosis consists of dilated blood vessels which form red lumps that are then covered by a fine scale. There may be one or two present or several dozen. Their cause is unknown, they cause no specific problems other than bleeding excessively if damaged, and they are certainly not contagious. They usually persist long term, but sometimes resolve spontaneously. They can be quite easily removed by diathermy (burning under a local anaesthetic), cryotherapy (freezing) or laser coagulation. This type of procedure is done by some general practitioners and most dermatologists and plastic surgeons. It will depend on how much they worry you as to how much you worry them.
