A tailor has 2 shirts and 1 tie. The cost of the tie is Rs. 96. If he sells tie with the first shirt, he receives the amount twice the value of the second shirt. And if he sells tie with the second shirt, he receives an amount which is less than the value of the first shirt by INR 210. What is the value of the first shirt? Correct Answer Rs. 708
Given:
A person has 2 shirts and 1 tie.
The cost of the tie is Rs. 96.
Calculation:
Let value of the first shirt = a and Let value of second shirt = b
According to the statement,
96 + a = 2b and 96 + b = a - 210
⇒ 2b = 96 + a & 2b = 2a - 420 - 192
⇒ 96 + a = 2a - 420 - 192
⇒ a = 708
⇒ Value of the first shirt = Rs. 708
Note :
He sells tie with the first shirt, he receives the amount twice the value of the second shirt (96 + a = 2b)
he sells tie with the second shirt, he receives an amount which is less than the value of the first shirt by INR 210 (96 + b = a - 210)
