Ratio between speed of boat P and Q in still water is 8∶6 and speed of current is 8 km/hr. Boat Q starts from A in the downstream,2 hours earlier than Boat P and it is found that Boat P is 32 km ahead of boat Q after 16 hours of its start. If boat P starts from point B in down steam at the same time and distance between A and B is 216 km, then find at what time boat P and Q meet each other.

Given:
Ratio between speed of boat P and Q in still water = 8 ∶ 6
Speed of current = 8 km/hr
Distance between A and B = 216 km
Calculations:
Let speed of boat P and Q in still water be = 8x km/hr and 6x km/hr
Downstream speed of boat P = (8x + 8) km/hr
Down steam speed of boat Q = (6x + 8) km/hr
According to question
⇒ 16(8x + 8) – 32 = 2(6x + 8) + 16(6x + 8)
⇒ 128x + 128 – 32 = 12x + 16 + 96x + 128
⇒ 20x = 48
⇒ x = 48/20 = 12/5 hours
