Formula used:

probability that neither of the pen and the notebook is blue = Probability that the pen is not blue × Probability that the notebook is not blue

Calculation:

Probability that neither of the notebook and pen is blue = (3/4) × (2/3) = 1/2

∴ required probability = 1/2
