Calculation:
Total soldiers in military camp = 50
Let the initial average expenditure of camp be Rs. x
The sum of their expenditure = 50 × x = Rs. 50x
Due to the war,
Now the total soldiers in camp = 50 + 40 = 90
Increments in expenditure of camp = Rs. 3000 per day
So now the sum of their expenditure = Rs. (50x + 3000)
Then now average expenditure of each member = (50x + 3000)/90
But there is decrement of Rs. 50 in the average expenditure of each soldier
Then,
⇒ x – 50 = (50x + 3000)/90
⇒ 90x – 4500 = 50x + 3000
